Welcome to the Kino section of my site. This is where I talk about movies, even though I'm a fake movie lover and I've only watched about 20 films this year. Most of my 'reviews' will go here as I feel too embarassed to post them on Letterboxd.
Conclave (2024)
I really liked this film! The cinematography was absolutely beautiful, wonderful use of color.
I do love a director that doesn't shy away from colorful symbolism. Great casting as well, I was happy to see it wasn't all just big name actors -
Diehz was fantastic as Benitez.
In my opinion, the 'twists' were a bit weak, but the writing and soundtrack definitely made up for that.
I think the Oscars are a scam, but I hope it wins Best Picture.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Just an overall incredible film, genuinely one of the most gorgeous movies I've ever watched. Breathtaking landscapes, vibrant colors, top-notch costume design,
it's a world-renowned masterpiece for good reason.
One thing that shocked me was Lean's casting of Peter O'Toole as T.E. Lawrence. Although he was not the first choice
for this role, he resembles the real Lawrence so strongly that I actually had a hard time distinguishing between the two when looking at images of them online.
Flawless, no notes.
